    X error - bad device

After compiling Vidalia (www.vidalia-project.org) which required a qt install on my kubuntu box, I now run the Vidalia binary and get the below:-

X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 169
    Extension: 147 (XInputExtension)
    Minor opcode: 3 (X_OpenDevice)
    Resource id: 0x0
    Failed to open device
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 169
    Extension: 147 (XInputExtension)
    Minor opcode: 3 (X_OpenDevice)
    Resource id: 0x0
    Failed to open device

After quite a bit of googling for help, it seems that this might be something to do with tablet PC features - and a couple of posts elsewhere suggest that I should comment out the relevant parts of my xorg.conf file.
I have 4 such conf files, numbered 1 - 3 and another with a long number....they are all different, but I have gone through the two that did have tablet PC details and have commented out the relevant parts.
I still get the same error though.

Can someone please help me out here ? Either I have the wrong solution for this error, or else my xorg.conf file isn't being picked up.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Don't forget to comment out the relevant entries in Section "ServerLayout".

You'll get *less* errors. There is nothing to worry about though. Your system is OK.

Thanks for that advice. No errors now ! Perfect.

Actually, I now still can't get Vidalia to work - but have left a ticket on the Vidalia website. Thanks for the help
