adept won't work

I can't get adept to work. It asks for my root password and when I type it in adept responds with conversation with su failed.

Also, when I go to login as admin it won't let me. What gives here? I think I read somewhere that Ubuntu has a weird way of giving root rights. If so is this true of Kubuntu too?

Well I don't know what happened but all I did was reboot and both problems are solved now. Weird huh?

Perhaps something to do with reloading the user environment? I dunno :-P.

I had the exact same problem. I read this thread and then rebooted. It fixed the problem. KDE weirdness.
