Algorhythm: Your problem is that Rosegarden 2 is obsolete and not maintained and Rosegarden 4 is in beta and not stable (You can find it in the Universe section, though). I don't know what happened to Rosegarden 3 Can you use Lilypond?

I can _install_ lilypond, yes... but it's not really a replacement for rosegarden... in the red corner, a midi and audio sequencer with recording capabilities (or so i read) -- in the blue corner, a notation-printing compiler. ATM i'm more prepared to put yet more effort into getting rosegarden to work than learning lilypond syntax, because I want to listen to what i play, record midi and maybe even audio.
