    Xsane on Kunbuntu

    Hi,

I have moved from Suse to Kunbuntu and now have what is for me a fully functional desktop in which I can work. With one exception.

I need to do a small amount of copying in the course of my work. Using KDE in Suse I used Xsane as the scanning front end because it is less fiddly than Kooka, it is a useful tool with the Gimp, and it has a good copy facility. I cannot get Xzane to copy either in Kunbuntu or in Unbuntu.

Every time I try I get three error messages:

    Broken Pipe
    Error during save
    Failed to execute printcommand lp0

I have fiddled with the preferences and used different commands to invoke the printer but nothing seems to work.

Any help I can get with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

As an alternative you could try 'gimp2.0-quiteinsane' which is in the repositories.

Thanks, but I have quiteinsane installed already and use when scanning photos.

It does not have the copy facility I want, and I don't know how to get the gimp to print anyway. There not being a printer diolgue in it that I can find.

If possible I would like to get xsane to copy to print if possible?

        Hi,

I've found a work around until someone realises this is a problem...

        Its command line...

        scanimage -d hp:/dev/sg0 |pnmtops |lp -d LaserJet

        obviously replacing printers and devices...

        Hope this helps someone!

To get gimp to print you have to install gimp-print from the repos.
