KMplayer problem

whenever i try to open some movie file in KMplayer it displays a message saying "Player Xine not running". I've tried changing it to use mplayer but then i get "player mplayer not running".

this is not a codecs issue since i have the essential codecs installed in /usr/lib/codecs and i can watch some movies in other players (kaffeine, totem, etc), but i want to use mplayer.

anyone else have this problem?

Well you could check this out
http://packages.ubuntulinux.org/dapp.../kmplayer-base

Looks like kmplayer depends on the libxine-main1 package so you might want to have that installed.
