application wierdness

Hi,
I am running kubuntu 6.06 on amd 2800 proc. I am at the latest software level. My wierdness is this. I have a rotating randon backgroud running. It changes backgrounds every 5 minutes. Now if I have firefox or thunderbird running and the background changes, firefox or thunderbird will go blank for a second and then act like the pages was refreshed starting me at the begining of the page (instead of the middle where I would have been).
Has anyone else seen this?

I think I can tell you how to stop it.  Find a blank spot on your desktop and right-click it.  Then choose Configure Desktop.  Inside the Background Settings and you should see it currently set to "Slide Show."  Choose "No Picture" or "Picture."

Hi,

Well to get around it for now, I just set the interval to 20 minutes and now I don't notice it as much. I don't want to turn off the slide show for now (unless it drives me really crazy). I'd like to find out why it's affecting the app that way.
