    Installing "NeroLinux"

    Hi,

I'm new to this, but hopefully someone can help...

I'm trying to install NeroLinux onto my Kubuntu system (dapper). Can someone explain the best way to do this. I'm guessing its not on the repositorys, so i have to download the .deb file from the Nero site, and install it. Anyone managed this and care to explain. Apparantly it needs GTK, will this be auto installed?

    Thanks

    Re: Installing "NeroLinux"

    Hi,

I am using Dapper Drake as well and Nero Linux went in just fine for me. Here is what you need to do:

Go to http://www.nero.com and download the debian package.
Right click on the package and choose Kubuntu package menu
    Choose install package
Wait a minute and it's all done
You will find the icon uner Multimedia and system.

    Good Luck.

Why Nero Linux? Why not just
      Code:
      sudo aptitude update
      sudo aptitude install k3b
      ?

I'm sure I've seen this thread somewhere before...

I'm not sure why my installation of NeroLinux didn't have any problems. Maybe it helped that I had the GIMP installed?

Btw, aysiu, K3B is installed by default in Kubuntu.

All the more reason not to need to install Nero Linux.

K3B is a great program, but it will not do all of the things that Nero will. I love K3B and use it for most of my burning needs, but it will not burn certain ISO's correctly. (ones that have the data written backwards, ex. backups of video games.)

Searched all over the site but could not locate a Linux version let alone a Debian one. The only reference to Linux was a PDF file. What am I missing? Could you narrow search to exact page or something as I seem to be overlooking the link - thanks!

                I found only this: http://www.nero.com/eng/nerolinux-prog.html

So AFAIK, NeroLinux is only a demo version. Don't know how long it lasts. Probably 30 days.

The good thing is your serial key from the windows version will work perfectly for the linux version.
