k3b double layer

I have a Sony Vaio S5-xp with dvd burner. If I try to burn a dvd on-fly appears successful but the dvd doesn't function (I can see that only an half part of the dvd was writed). When I try to burn a DVD without on-fly option at the end of the image-creation k3b asks me for a Double Layer DVD (even if I'm burning a few megabytes), and then, if I insert an empty DVD-R it hangs.

I found this in the search and I have the smae problem. K3B asks for double layer DVD. Any options to use standard DVD+- R?
