    removable media desktop icon

    Hi,

    I have the following question. I am using Kubuntu 6.06 with kde 3.5 when I plugin my usb stick it's reconized and an unmounted icon is displayed on to the desktop. I also have a /dev/sd* device and the device is listed in konqueror media:/ and I can mount it so far everything is ok.

    Now when I logout and login again the icon on the desktop has disappeared nevertheless it's device still exist and the divice is still listed in konqueror media:/ ? I would expect that the icon reappears on the desktop when I logon because the device is sill present.

    see if it was fixed by upgrading to the latest KDE.

      Hi,

      Thanks for your reply, but I was already running kde 3.5.3.
      I'm searching for the process that's responsible for putting the icon on to the desktop, because dbus, pmount al seems to be working. If I would know the command that's running after pmount maybe I could run it manually after I logon ?

        You're looking for ivman. The setup is non-trivial though, so search google/linux for instructions.
