Skim - Input method combo box empty

Hello Kubuntuforums,

I have a problem with Skim: the input method combo box is empty even though I have IMEngines installed (English and Japanese).

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

i have nothing to say if i can type in both english and japanese without any problem

A few day ago I sucesfully got Skim working by following these steps: http://www.scim-im.org/wiki/document...ubuntu_kubuntu and adding* the line

QT_IM_MODULE="scim"

to the 75custom-scim_init file. I also skipped the "Locale configuration" step, because I was already using an UTF-8 locale.


*Qt applications didn't want to work without this step.

I have no idea about adding bits to 75custom-scim-init files.

Is there any way that a NORMAL (ie: computer user, not programmer) can get this working?

I am sick of WinXP freezes (at least they are not blue screens, but they are freezes nonetheless), but I can't use Kubuntu if I can't get Japanese input happening.

I don't want to have to reinvent the wheel. Programmers write programs. Users use computers. Car makers design cars. Drivers drive cars.
