Problem with printing in KDE and OOo2

    Hi,

I am having problems with printing under KDE apps - always an error message saying "A print error occurred. Error message received from system:

    cupsdoprint -P 'HPLJ1300' -J 'file:///' -H 'sp-server:631' -U 'slunsky' -o ' copies=1 multiple-document-handling=separate-documents-collated-copies orientation-requested=3' '/tmp/kde-slunskygYVkLr/kdeprint_hYm7WrFH' : execution failed with message:
    client-error-bad-request "

appears and also under Open Office 2.0.2. while trying to print to CUPS I get error message saying simply "Printing Error"

My configuration is Kubuntu 6.0.6 TLS i386, KDE 3.5.3., CUPS on server

Can someone please give me hint what to do?

    THX

According to http://linuxprinting.org/show_printe...-LaserJet_1300 you should be able to print postscript out of the box and you should get full functionality with the hplip package. The only thing I can suggest is that my LJ-2200 didn't work with the old fashioned parallel port, so I had to switch to a USB connection. But, I suspect that was a function of my computer, not of the driver.

Thank you for your answer. Somehow I managed to get through this error. The thong is that printer is connected to printer server I am printing using CUPS server.

Unfortunately CUPS server has different locale (8859-2) from my computer (UTF-8) and this was a problem. After trying to print file which has local Czech characters in its name I got that error. It was fine when printing file without local Czech characters.

If someone has met the same problem I would like to share experiences with him.
