I'm having trouble finding a friendly libwxgtk 2.4-1 in order to install audacity.
Help would be appreciated.

Have you tried just enabling extra repositories and then going to KMenu > System > Konsole and typing this?

sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install audacity
