    Conversation with su failed

    Whenever I try to start a privileged application, kdesu tells me that the "conversation with su failed". As a result, I cannot make any administrative changes with a GUI. This is unacceptable, and since Dapper has released, it should work correctly. sudo from the command-line does work, however. Why do all of these applications try to use kdesu, since (K)Ubuntu uses the sudo security model? I need a solution, or I may be forced to rethink my distro choice.

    Can anyone help?!?

      I am listed in /etc/sudoers, both by group (admin), and by username, exactly as you specified. Yet, this error persists. Has kdesu been setup to allow the sudo security model? What is wrong here?

        kdesu is simply a gui for sudo (as gksudo is for gnome) and is the preferred method of running GUI apps with admin privileges, whether using sudo here, or su in other distros. Perhaps this is a bug that needs to be reported, I do not see anything similar over at launchpad, other than this:
