Synaptic Package Manager Issues

I'm new to Kubuntu and still consider myself a newb in Linux too.

I installed SPM through the Adept Package Manager but it didn't show up in my K menu. Entered Synaptic in the Run command and it did open it, but gave me a message that I was not logged in as root. How do I log in as root if it doesn't prompt me for it? Am I opening the wrong file?

I think it's supposed to be run as "kdesu synaptic".
Try logging out and back in again. Perhaps the K Menu just needs a refresh/restart.

Wow don't I feel dumb! That's all I had to do was log out and in Thanks much.
