    Automatix

    Tried the live CD and I am now quite interested in installing Kubuntu on my machine. One quick question, when I have used Ubuntu I used Automatix for all my codecs, nvidia driver etc, can I use this for Kubuntu 6.06?

      Thank you. Excellent. I am going to install Kubuntu tommorow. I like some of the KDE software as apposed to Gnomes. Some of it feels more complete to me.

        Re: Automatix

        tried to run easy ubuntu and got the following error:

        sudo python easyubuntu.py
        Traceback (most recent call last):
        File "easyubuntu.py", line 31, in ?
        replace(confdir)
        File "/home/michael/easyubuntu/detect.py", line 157, in replace
        os.popen("chown -R "+os.getlogin()+":"+os.getlogin()+" "+confdir)
        OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory

        what is the problem here?
        I tried Enlightenment once, it was pretty cool.

          Also consider bumps (find it on ubuntuforums.org with a search).

          Automatix is really for Gnome and there was a clone for Kubuntu called Automatiks, but it hasn't been maintained and isn't up to date for Dapper.

          Bumps does much of what Automatix does, but is intended for both KDE and Gnome (the GUI gives you a choice).
