    disk backup

As as a newbie I have discovered that the linux world uses a lot of disk space. What was 20 gig is now 36+. Aps are different (better) but doing the same thing. I need to replace my 40gig hd with a 160 gig pata that I currently use as an external drive. "Keep" has no documentation and not sure if it will make a bootable image so I can transfer my stuff to the external then install it in my PC. Can anyone recommend a software that can handle this? Thanks in advance.

Take a look at rsync It will preserve permissions, ownership, links, etc.

Googled it, dont think it will do the job. What I'm looking for is a bootable disk clone, like norton ghost.
