    Help... new to kubuntu.

I'm new to kubuntu as I've been using Linspire over the past 3 years. I like kubuntu but can't seem to get any plugins installed for Firefox. I basically want Acrobat Reader, WMF (Windows video), Real Player, MPEG, and MOV files to work in Firefox. Is this possible? In Linspire, they all worked out of the box but I'd like to try a completely free solution. Can anyone help me with this? Is there a REALLY EASY way to do this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

the Unoffical Kubuntu FAQ should help, see http://kudos.berlios.de/kf/kf1.html.
Check out the Popular Applications Table, that should answer most of your questions.

Thanks padre999. That's exactly what I was looking for. Everything works (with Konq anyway) now. I'm going to abandon trying to get it to work with Firefox as Konq seems to be a very capable browser. Thanks again!

              Re: Help... new to kubuntu.

Programs you install mostly with Adept:

Make sure you have the multiverse repositories enabled:

But that you should have done already while setting up the other stuff before.

              Search for acroread...

Once again you are the man! Thanks. Acrobat is now installed. Man, this Linux stuff is easy!

oops... did you just edit your previous post? wasn't there something like "it doesn't work"?

anyway, I like the new version of your post much better.

Just for the record, that is what I replied to your post that just disappeared:

                  that is odd...

I just installed Acrobat Reader with Adept...

My guess is that something is wrong with your multiverse setup, as the packet is in the multiverse repository...

you are sure you enabled it (it is not greyed out)?

In my setup I had to "clone" the universe repository and then change the clone from universe to multiverse (unlike described in the wiki). And don't forget to hit that apply button at the end.

otherwise I don't know what could be the problem.

LOL... yeah, I changed it once I noticed that I didn't APPLY my multiverse entries. Once I APPLIED my changes and refreshed I was good to go. Thanks again for all of your help.
