Firstly TURN YOUR CAPS LOCK OFF. Some find it rude, it is called 'shouting'

"Make my applications work" - are you stating you don't know how to start them or they are problematic?
When you install new programmes, some may not appear on the menu until the next time you log in.
Even though you have mentioned reading, there really is no better way to learn from what you read then put that into practice :: . http://www.kubuntu.org/docs/kquickguide/C/index.html _  Have a read about starting applications here.

You can use the Kmenu to find your application icon OR use CTRL + F2 (Run Command) and type the name of the application you want to start. (Katapult)  ALT + SPACE BAR is another way to launch programmes eg. type in 'kmail' or 'kontact' after launching Katapult.

If and when you feel confident editing the menu list there is an app called Kmenuedit that will allow you to change the Kmenu around, and some have taken the step of adding a Debian menu system to their Kmenu, you just need to load 'menu' from Adept or Synaptic
Of course the quickest way to edit your Kmenu would be right click on the Kmenu icon in the corner and then select 'menu editor'

I am sure someone will tell me that I am wrong here, If I am it would be nice to hear this situation has changed....Microsoft no longer will allow access to hotmail via its http based system,  unless your  a paid-up user. If you are then I would suggest doing a search of www.kubuntuforums.net or www.ubuntuforums.org for 'freepops' and there will be plentiful information available.

      BUKUNUT...
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PROMPT RESPONSE... I REALLY APPRECIATE IT...
I USE CAPS BECAUSE I NEED TOO...
IF YOU ARE HEARING VOICES WHEN YOU ARE READING I THINK IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH YOU SEEING ELVIS AND THE UFOS!!

I HAVE TRIED YOUR SUGGESTIONS, BEFORE I POSTED HERE....
KATAPULT - I GET THE GRAPHIC WITH THE NAME AND NOTHING ELSE HAPPENS.. I HAVE TRIED THE ALT + SPACE BAR AND NOTHING HAPPENS THERE EITHER..

I HAVE INSTALLED, UNINSTALLED, REINSTALLED THE PROGRAMS, I HAVE D/L FROM THE REPOSITORIES USING ADEPT AND CHOOSING REQUEST INSTALLATION .. AND GONE THROUGH THE PROCESS

      I HAVE REBOOTED THE COMPUTER
I HAVE TURNED OFF AND WAITED FOR 30 MINUTES TO RE-START
AND THE PROGRAMS STILL DONT APPEAR ANYWHERE

I HAVE TRIED THE COMMAND LINE... AND IT SAYS IT DOES NOT FIND THE FILES

I CAN NOT FIND KMAIL, SINAPTIC OR FREEPOPS AND SEVERAL OTHER PROGRAMS I HAVE TRIED TO D/L AND INSTALL

THE ONLY ONES THAT ACTUALLY APPEARED IN MY MENU WHERE A FEW GAMES I INSTALLED AND THAT WAS IT.

I HAVE PRINTED OUT THE KUBUNTU QUICK GUIDE, AND THE AND SEVERAL POSTS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO SET UP MY KUBUNTU.

SO MY DILEMMA STILL IS WHERE DO THIS PROGRAMS GO?
AND HOW DO I MAKE THEM ACCESIBLE?

      THANK YOU AGAIN

You need to type in all caps? Can I ask why? I'm just curious.

Let's take this one thing at a time. We'll start with KMail.

Can you go to KMenu > System > Konsole and paste in these commands?
        Code:
        sudo apt-get update
        sudo apt-get install kmail
        kmail
After you do that, highlight everything in the Konsole (both the commands you pasted in and their resultant output), copy the text, and then paste it back into a post in this thread?

Have you tried going to the KMenu > Run Program and typing
          Code:
          eboard
? Sometimes programs do not include a menu entry in the installation package, and you have to add it in manually.

That's not a very nice reply to someone that tried to help you. The group of people that are most likely to know how to help you would not bother replying to someone that SHOUTS in a forum. Using all caps in posts is considered shouting (and is usually forbidden) in the majority of forums and chat rooms/channels. Have a look at these netiquette guidelines
Use mixed case. UPPER CASE LOOKS AS IF YOU'RE SHOUTING.
If you need to use caps for a medical reason, it would be considerate to use a signature to inform other members that you're not trying to be rude and that you do need to use caps.

Re: HOW DO I MAKE MY APPLICATIONS WORK?

If you need to use ALL CAPS for yourself, consider writing in ALL CAPS in a KWord document, and then selecting all the text and changing the case to sentence case instead of upper case and then copying and pasting that text into a post.

Written communication is primarily for others, not yourself. You may also want to consider learning how to touch-type. That way you won't have to look at what you're typing, and others won't have to suffer reading ALL CAPS.

ALL I WANTED WAS HELP LEARNING THIS NEW KUBUNTU SYSTEM.
I DID NOT READ ANYWHERE THAT I NEEDED TO USE A SPECIFIC FONT, AND SIZE OF LETTERS.

THE TYPE AND SIZE OF FONTS I USE TO WRITE WHATEVER I WANT TO WRITE IT IS MY CHOICE.

IF YOU DONT LIKE IT, YOU DONT HAVE TO READ IT. I SURELY DONT READ ANYTHING I DONT LIKE. AND I DONT PRETEND TO LECTURE ANYBODY ON SUPERFICIAL MATTERS LIKE WHAT TYPE OF FONTS AND SIZE YOU USE.

I HAVE FOUND AN OPERATING SYSTEM I ENJOY WORKING WITH AND THAT I THINK HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE THE LINUX SYSTEM THAT ANYBODY CAN USE.

I DO HAVE TO SAY THE HELP IN THE ISSUE OF "HOW DO I MAKE MY PROGRAMS WORK" HAS MUCH TO BE DESIRED.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND HOPE I CAN FIND SOMEONE THAT CAN ACTUALLY ANSWERED MY QUESTION INSTEAD OF POMPOUSLY LECTURING ON WRITING SKILLS!

Re: HOW DO I MAKE MY APPLICATIONS WORK?

So you want people to not read things you write, but you want them to help you...?

What?! How can people help you if they don't read your question?

If you believe upper and lower cases are "superficial," just use lower case, then--it's easier to read for the people trying to help you. If you believe it's not superficial, then realize how difficult it is for people to read someone shouting in UPPERCASE all the time.

Taking a look at the manual for FreePOPs...
                  http://www.freepops.org/en/files/html-manual/

... I don't believe it's a graphical application you launch. I think it's a command-line utility that you configure and that your graphical email client uses somehow.

This person seeking help should not receive it. As a Kubuntu user, I am more than happy to help people using this forum, but I draw the line at beligerant people who, for some reason, think that no matter how obnoxious they are, they should get help.

I suggest to all those who participate to refuse help to the author of the request until that person learns to accept that civil behavior is essential to a good forum.

The questions raised aren't difficult to answer; they're from a person very inexperienced in Linux. But that's not a reason to refuse advice that is given in the positive spirit of cooperation.

When the poster starts to use lower case, I'll be happy to help.

Re: HOW DO I MAKE MY APPLICATIONS WORK?

                        From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netiquette:
Re-read and edit your posting carefully before you post. Check the spelling, grammar, and capitalization. Typing in all capital letters usually denotes screaming or yelling. Keep your lines to fewer than 70 characters. Do not post test messages except in their appropriate groups; wait until you have something to say. When posting humorous or sarcastic comments, it is conventional to append an emoticon, but do not overuse them.
Apparently, though, I'm violating Netiquette, too:
If you believe someone has violated netiquette, send him or her a message by private e-mail; do not post a follow-up to the offending post. Be polite. The author may not have realized his or her mistake, may be a beginner, or may not even have been responsible for the "crime" — his or her account may have been used by someone else, or the address may have been forged. Furthermore, a person who breaks netiquette over and over may be doing it intentionally to disrupt the group (see Internet troll), in which case public flaming over the violation would amount to what is termed feeding the troll.
In any case, I've offered both help and a little advice to those seeking help--be nice to those from whom you're asking volunteer help.

In fact, even if you pay people for help, be nice to them.

Well, in theory, you're supposed to send a private message to the offending party instead of scolding her (however politely) in public.

What I've found in the past is that sending private messages just gets the person to send you private messages back that indicate that you're somehow mean or oversensitive and these private messages that go back and forth get more and more hostile, as the person feels you've singled her out.

In some ways, especially if you try not to make your reprimands humiliating, calling someone on netiquette in the thread is more appropriate, as you get back up from other people, so you don't look like a crazy person.
