    Installing mplayer

    Code:
    themouse@tilixbox:~$ sudo apt-get install mplayer
    Reading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree... Done
Package mplayer is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package mplayer has no installation candidate
    themouse@tilixbox:~$
How can I install mplayer without adding some other repos in sources.list (I was told it's not a wise idea)?

    Re: Installing mplayer

There's nothing wrong with adding repositories.
Who told you it was a bad idea?

perhaps someone was advising you to be careful about adding repos that are not "trustworthy" enabling universe and multiverse is fine.
