I added the line to the Package Manager. I kept getting BREAK(upgrade) so I unistalled 1.3.9 and rebooted. Now I get BREAK(install). I'm new here. I've learned quite a bit with NDISWRAPPER but I don't understand this and couldn't find anything in the forum about this or if I am doing this correctly anyway. What am I doing wrong!!

Re: HELP!!! Please!!! AMAROK 1.4
MoonRise
Your subject line says Amarok 1.4, just asking did you add the following line to your sources list as per the announcement here( http://kubuntu.org/announcements/amarok-1.4.php ) : -
deb http://kubuntu.org/packages/amarok-14 dapper main
Do an update in your package manager to get a new list of installable items, then select Amarok to install, OR as an alternative if your comfortable with using the console type:-
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install amarok
Always best to do backup before altering your sources file :
sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list_backup
kdesu kedit /etc/apt/sources.list
# deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu dapper universe
Hope that helps.

Re: HELP!!! Please!!! AMAROK 1.4
Thanks for responding. Yes, I did include that in the sources list. No, Multiverse and Universe are not chosen.
Is that necessary for Amarok to be installed? I went through the packager and that is where I get those messages. I'll try the command line and post any errors here. Hopefully CMD Line works. I'll also do the last thing first. Enable the multiverse and universe and update before doing Amarok. Thanks again for responding.

Re: HELP!!! Please!!! AMAROK 1.4
OK. Thanks very much. Enabling those worked. Now, I really though this would help with MP3s. Do I still need something else to get it to play in Amarok?
Also, I was told to not every use Universe or Multiverse because they are less reliable. Is this really true? To me since Kubuntu doesn't have all the necessary files needed in their "default" packages, then they evidently trust the Universe and Multiverse to be used. Any clarification on this would be helpful.

Re: HELP!!! Please!!! AMAROK 1.4
MoonRise
Here are details about the repos' that will explain fully about Multiverse and Universe. :-
http://www.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/components
On the issue of MP3 and Amarok, if you use the search function on these forums you will find most of the information you require.
http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=3228.0 (Excellent post of information)
http://www.krazypenguin.net/Ubuntu_D...ake_6.06_Guide (Although written for Ubuntu, it is pretty easy to convert the matter back to Kubuntu)
http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=100 (Great list of how-to's and assistance.)
Just a few links for you.
However, for Amarok and MP3 ...
First check that amarok-xine is installed.
Then install libxine-extracodecs
Just out of interest the extracodecs are loaded from Multiverse.
This should get your MP3's playing in Amarok.

Re: HELP!!! Please!!! AMAROK 1.4
Thanks again. Great links by the way. I had started my own list of things I've learned. Usually helps enforce them when typing them out. Printed those for future reference. Haven't tried that last bit on Amarok. If it doesn't work you'll see another post otherwise, consider this complete. Thanks for your help.

Re: HELP!!! Please!!! AMAROK 1.4
OK. Not complete. Couldn't find libxine-extracodecs. I'm sure I have Multiverse enabled. I just checked. Any clues? Thanks from a newbie who feels like they should be able to figure this out!

Sorry. Been busy at work. Let me know if it is this. I still don't see "libxine-extracodecs";

Re: HELP!!! Please!!! AMAROK 1.4
MoonRise
There is repos missing, by far the easiest solution here is to follow this link to aysiu's superb page :-
http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/sources
Instructions and information is all included on the page at the bottom for Dapper, once you have done this and updated it will let you get the extracodecs package. If you wanted to create your own source.list then try this link http://www.ubuntulinux.nl/source-o-matic

This is a fairly complete list, and I didn't see any new sources in the link posted by Bukunut. Of course, I could have simply missed them, I have been known to miss the obvious before.
Any Suggestions?

Re: HELP!!! Please!!! AMAROK 1.4
Other than following what Bukunut had me do. I know that it is now working . I'm not real up on source files since I was told at one time that Universe and Multiverse were unreliable. Although, through them I've been able to get Kubuntu to do what I wanted so who knows except those who help like Bukunut.

This was the line missing for me. Can you verify that it is there and doesn't have the "#" in front of it?
