Hello,
I've really been wanting to get the Fingerprint bootsplash here working:

All the instructions seem to be outdated, or at least not for Kubuntu. I also wanted to get the Ksplash and KDE themes installed, but KDE doesn't recognize the files as a theme.

If anyone has any suggestions or knows where I can find instructions, please let me know.

hey, those are the exact same themes i am currently running here. let me see if i can be of any assistance.
make sure kdm and ksplash are installed. once installed, reboot.

to change boot splash>> KMenu > System Settings > KDM Theme Manager > Administrator Mode > Install New Theme > select the file location for the theme. upon xrestart you should see the theme.

to change boot splash background >> Kmenu > System Settings > Login Manager > Administrator Mode > Background > select you background, preferably the non transparent one.

that should be it for your login and bootsplash. i like the way this thing looks. i use the background for ksplash/login for all my desktops and i use the "deep plastik" color scheme. i like the dark blue scheme.

as for your kde theme, copy the url for the theme you want, and goto the kde theme manager and paste the url when you select install new theme. this should install the theme if it is the tar.gz format.
