xine codecs?

Hi. I have a fresh dapper beta2 install. Both amarok and kaffeine uses xine, i contrast with breezy with used gstreamer. How do i get multimedia support (mp3, avi and so on)

I installed w32 codecs, which shuld to the trick, but it don't. I get the same result as before. Both kaffeine and amarok just plow trough the playlist...

Reinstall XINE maby?

Try installing 'libxine-extracodecs' from 'multiverse' (should give you mp3 support)

Also, check that xine knows where those w32codecs are for video, open Kaffeine and edit xine settings...codec path is under 'decoder'

or, if you are using Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake):

  sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg gstreamer0.10-gl gstreamer0.10-plugins-base gstreamer0.10-
plugins-good gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse libxine-extracodecs ffmpeg
lame faad sox mjpegtools libxine-main1

Note: This is a single command. Don't write in multiple lines.

Of course if you don't use gstreamer, you don't need the gstreamer plugins

Since you're using Dapper Beta...this post should probably be in the Dapper section of the forums to avoid confusion :P
