I installed and did all of the updates. Kaffeine runs and plays sound, but shows no video. All of my files are xvid encoded. Sound works for all files (some with mp3 and some with ogg). I get the same results whether playing files with an ogm container or an avi container. Any ideas? I am trying to minimize the customization so as not to mess up my system, so I would like to get kaffeine working as opposed to installing another program. Thanks.

Open up /etc/apt/sources.list, uncomment the two lines that end with "universe" and add the "multiverse" tag to each of the two lines as well.
Then:
apt-get update
apt-get install libxine-extracodecs -

Sorry for not following up on this. I was not able to get it working previously and ran out of time. I installed the latest release with updates and everything seems to be working now. Thanks for you help.Comment
