Slow Web Browsing on Internet after Update

Hi after my last last update, my intertnet connection speed while browsing the web has slowed down, it has happened to my desktop pc and laptop its making it unusable, my Windows XP setup works fine, this has happened to me before under Mandrake and i never really got the answers why and ended up back on XP. i would like to solve this once and for all. Heres a list of things i have checked.
A setting must have been over written at last update

1) Xp works fine. (connection DSL NTL)

2) Firefox and Konqueror both affected

3) download speeds unaffected just a pause before download starts.

4) tried dissabling 1pv6

6) resolve.conf is blank


Many thanks for any help, don't really wan't to go back to Windows

Hello,

do a search in the forum for tweaks for the 2 browsers you use to increase the speed, it may help.

Warbuckle is right it will help.
You can also try to set dns server in your /etc/resolv.conf with the ip your internet provider gave you.

I have added primary and secondary nameservers and disabled 1pv6
i have tried addingtweaks to firefox via fasterfox but still have the same problem
the internet was working fine on both machines until last update, my windows setup is fine, so its not a hardware fault.

any suggestions

Can you perhaps start the network monitor and see shat is hogging your bandwidth.........

I have now solved this problem, thanks for your time and efforts, but I dissabled the DHCP server
on my router, may be there was a conflict, everything seems ok, still confused why windows was working?
