    Internet real slow

    Hello all
Im new to Kubuntu but not linux.
Ive noticed that my internet is really slow at going to other pages. It still downloads at 1.5mb though, cant complain about that.
Is there some way to set konq and mozilla to load faster?

I suspect that if it takes a long time to start dl'ing a page ane then goes quickly once it starts, and it does this on pretty much all pages, you have one of two problems (neither of them your fault).

    1) Your DNS server is not set up properly, look at your /etc/resolv.conf file. It will have two lines like "nameserver1.1.1.1" and "nameserver 2.2.2.2" and a third line "search myisp.com" Call tech support at your isp and verify that these lines are properly set to her primary and secondary name servers.

    2) If they are, then complain that their DNS servers are taking too long to return internet addresses.

It is only slow with Linux. Windows breazes through from one page to another.
I just checked the file and it only has one item in it, Is this the problem?

i will do test too, i don't know if yesterday was a bad DSL day or if kubuntu is slow.
i test my line and had a 250KB/s down speed
my DSL line support 1400KB/s down speed
i will do better test at 7PM cause here i'm at work...

glpnet: If windoze is fast and linux is slow, the problem must be somewhere in the linux setup. You can ask your ISP if they have a secondary nameserver, and you can try to add the search line to your resolv.conf file. You should ask your ISP what the line should say.

I had the same issue. I'm using a linksys wusb54g (Wireless - G USB Network Adapter) via ndiswrapper (allows a device to run in linux using a windows driver).

I found a fix here : http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-87798.html. There are some people that say you shouldn't *have* to disable ipV6 but....it worked for me - may work for you.

One thing to note - the instructions were used on Breezy - I have not tried it on Dapper so your mileage may vary.
