That is what Ark tells me when I try to open a deb package. I know that isn't the way to install them, but that's how I install deb packages with broken dependencies. Can you guys help me solve the problem?

Re: Ark:The utility is not in your PATH
I tried to troubleshoot a bit, for me the first instance of ark fails to open deb files (when using the right-click menu to open), but if I open a second instance it works, I can also open a deb file with the ark File|open dialog, so if that doesn't work you might actually have two problems (though most likely related).
The error message when trying to open from konsole with
Code:ark /path/to/deb-file
kio (KMimeType): WARNING: mimetype not valid '' (missing entry in the file ?)
(The console method also fails only on first instance, if I already have an ark window open it works like a charm :P)

Re: Ark:The utility is not in your PATH
This works for me:
(1) Navigate to the directory holding the deb file.
(2) Right click on the .deb file.
(3) DO NOT close Ark after the error message.
(4) Instead, after clicking on OK in the error box, click on File>Open Recent>Name.of.your.deb.
(5)Enjoy.
