Just a quick note for those of you trying to get Flash working with Firefox to display YouTube videos.
The following pertains to a fresh install of Dapper i386 (6.06) with full upgrade per Adept on a homebuilt 64-bit Sempron-processor Box with Firefox 1.50.12 subsequently installed.
I then tried using Adept Package Manager to install support for Flash in Firefox. This installed Flash Player version 4 which gave an error and would not bring video up in YouTube at all. I checked Firefox using "aboutlugins" and version 4 was indeed installed.
I then installed Flash Player version 9 for Linux from the Macromedia Web site per their instructions. Still the same error in YouTube. Checking with "aboutlugins" showed both versions 4 and 9 as being installed.
After I used Adept Package manager to uninstall the Flash Player version 4, the version 9 plugin started working fine. Note that this included the sound as working fine.
Hope this helps someone, but please don't ask me how to do the install of Flash Player version 9 from the Macromedia web site. If you can't figure it out from their instructions, then you probably shouldn't be doing it.
Can someone convince Kubuntu/Ubuntu to put version 9 in the repositories so it can be installed using Adept Package Manager? Version 4 is worthless.
