K/X/Ubuntu is Debian 'derivative' so it is (almost 100 %) compatible with Debian software.

The Ubuntu repositories contain thousands of packages and with 3rd party repositories you can get even more.

Now, for a newbie friendlier answer :

All the software in Adept Manager is obviously compatible, and there is quite a lot available simply via that tool, which is the easiest way to get and install stuff. You may need to enable some extra software repositories to get the full amount, however

Read this page for information on this.

For the most part, 90% imo of what you want and need, in terms of Linux software, is available via Adept, though of course that remaining 10 % is probably near and dear to your heart (as it is for me ) so eventually you may need to try finding other packages or learn to compile from the source code. The links rog131gave are very handy for this.
