KDE Menu editor And Add / Remove

before installing Kubuntu or Ubuntu I paid quite a bit of the readies for the official Ubuntu Book , because I wanted to get things right .Problem is I follow the instructions printed for KDE Menu Editor and it`s not the same as my installation In fact I cannot find it any where .Also when I click on Help (top right hand) then click on handbook nothing appears . I am trying to get the Games in the Menu editor .also Add / remove and Adept are not as is written in the book .I want to check for updates etc. .tried looking On Web but no luck .can someone please point me in the right direction .I have been trying to do it all myself as I believe it`s the best way to learn .
Not very successfully as you can see.

KDE Menu Editor - In fact I cannot find it any where
Highlight an item in the section of K-menu you want to edit and right click. A menu will appear, click "Edit Item" option and left click. KDE Menu Editor starts. Now you can add a new submenu Games or whatever.

    About adept:
    There is adept wiki
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adept_Package_Manager
    but it is stub.

I'm using synaptic package manager. It's Ubuntu package but works fine with Kubuntu.

    Before you edit, BACKUP !

Why there are dead links ?
    1. Thread: Please explain how to access old kubuntu forum posts
    2. Thread: Lost Information

KMenu>System>Adept Package Manager (this is how you can check for updates, and also select new packages to install or installed packages to remove)

      Kmenu>System>Add/Remove Programs (but I don't like it and don't use it ....)
