I tried that code but it says something about the package not there anymore

Anybody more knows the answer? Or another way?

          Re: Shockwave Flash Media

Sorry, I should have mentioned this, make sure the multiverse repositories are active in your sources file.

          Code:
          kdesu kedit /etc/apt/sources.list
Uncomment the multiverse lines, save the file, then run

          Code:
          sudo aptitude update
          Then

          Code:
          sudo aptitude install flashplugin-nonfree

            Re: Shockwave Flash Media

When I try the first code I get this:

            stooker@stooker-desktop:~$ kdesu kedit /etc/apt/sources.list
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 168
            Major opcode: 145
            Minor opcode: 3
            Resource id: 0x0
            Failed to open device
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 168
            Major opcode: 145
            Minor opcode: 3
            Resource id: 0x0
            Failed to open device
            sh: kedit: command not found
            stooker@stooker-desktop:~$

            -------------
And then I can put in my password and it says that the file in the specific directory isn't found.

Does this say anything to you?

Wacky wacom stuff -- it is harmless (albeit annoying), and not related to any problem with Shockwave Flash. If you wish to eliminate the messages, you'll need to comment out the wacom driver info in xorg.conf. Search for "wacom" and you should find previous posts with the detailed editing instructions.

I don't mind the messages as long as the flash plugin is installed, but it isn't installed after this

I'm a stage further now....after the third code I got this message:

Yes, I don't think you have kedit installed. Try

                  Code:
                  kdesu kate /etc/apt/sources.list
                  instead.

Find every line with the word multiverse and uncomment those lines. Delete the # sound at the beginning of the line. Then save the file. Then close Kate and run the commands I gave you to update the repositories, then install the flash plugin.

                        Re: Shockwave Flash Media

pfff.....my first 2 days of experience with open source are loads of troubleshooting.

I went to Adept -> repository's and enabled all the lines, cause the universal en main were already enabled.

                        *edit*
After enabling them all the install worked.

But at Hyves they still ask wether I would like to download -> Shockwave Flash Media plugin

Did I install the wrong plugin or is it still not properly installed?

Did you restart firefox? type aboutlugins in the firefox location bar and tell me if you see an entry for flash.

Your flash plugin is installed. What is the website you are having a problem with?

                              No problem with the repositories.
