    Aptitude and Firefox Woes

    Hi,
I'm a noob, and I'm not sure how much that has contributed to my troubles! Anyways here's what happened:
    - Originally I installed Breezy server version from CD.
    - Then I changed the sources repositories to Dapper, and upgraded the distro to Dapper with Aptitude
    - Installed Kubuntu desktop with Aptitude. It went ok, and the desktop seemed to work fine after that.
    - Installed Firefox with Aptitude. It started okay, no apparent problems, then I stepped away from the laptop while it was downloading. When I came back Aptitude was removing a huge list of software for some reason.
    - After that had finished, I restarted: KDE didn't load, it only gave me a command line login, the startx command wasn't found. I don't think I have a window manager now! What's up?

    Any help is much appreciated.
    Cheers!!

    G'day, mello2n

From memory, I had a similar thing happen one time and I had to reinstall the desktop.

    sudo aptitude install kubuntu-desktop

This may or may not be your problem but could be worth a try.

    Cheers
