Amarok not playing music files

i'm newbi, i have installed Kubuntu v. 6.06 in adept added all repositories ,installed amarok version 1.3.9 bu default installed all drivers needed for playing mp3 files( two nights reading post with the same problem) in configuring amarok choosed xine engine and in sound system i have ALSA.

added mp3 support from instruction in amarok website.

BUT NO SOUND , i added some mp3 files to the playlist but i don't hear anything.

i downloaded XMMS player and installed. IT's work fine!!!!!


please help how i can set the Amarok to play music files

i did every thing what i found in the the forums.......

Does Amarok show the song is playing though?

yep, i see amarok jumps throu the time line several times and stops.

i don't know where to start searching if its codecs problem or something in amarok

try using the instructions for adding codecs from the unofficial ubuntu guide. I have used it for many machines and amarok always plays

Before looking elsewhere for how to try looking through the unofficial guide, ubuntu.com documentations and forum. I feel we get better support rather than directly from the developer

thanks, after updating source.list and repositories adept installed newer version of amarok
and now it's playing fine
