Xine/Amarok randomly stall playing MP3s

The subject line pretty much says it all. I just did a fresh re-installation of Kubuntu 6.06 on a tower I have here, and what once worked just fine - now randomly stalls and freezes. I've even installed the Xine-UI so I can load up an MP3 file directly in Xine, and it still does the same thing, so I think it's safe to say that Xine is the actual problem here rather than Amarok since it only uses Xine as the audio playing engine.

What's the gimmick to making Xine/Amarok work with MP3s?

Seems to be solved. I had the same problem as you but upgrading

libxine-extracodecs libxine-main1 libxine1

today solved the issue. This affected to another kde apps too, as the konqueror sidebar.
