    Adept: "waiting for headers (99%)"

    Kubuntu 6.06

For the last several weeeks, Adept hangs for a long time with the message "waiting for headers (99%)". Eventually it proceeds, but I'm wondering why it hangs for so long; it did not do that earlier. A similar problem is found at this forum <a href=http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=9766;prev_next=next>HERE</a>, but the solution there doesn't seem to apply as all my repositories are US or were installed direct by EasyUbuntu, and worked earlier without the delay. I haven't made any changes recently except to remove the Ichthux repositories which showed errors frequently. Nothing is showing error now.

On the forum page above, they wanted a listing of the sources. Here is my current /etc/apt/sources.list:

    deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu dapper-commercial main
deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ dapper main restricted universe multiverse
    deb http://packages.freecontrib.org/plf/ dapper free non-free
    # The above lines were generated automatically by EasyUbuntu 3.02 Release
    # The rest of your sources.list follows

deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ dapper main restricted universe multiverse
    deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ dapper main restricted
    deb-src http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ dapper main restricted
    ## Major bug fix updates produced after the final release of the
    ## distribution.
    deb-src http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ dapper-updates main restricted
    ## Uncomment the following two lines to add software from the 'universe'
    ## repository.
    ## N.B. software from this repository is ENTIRELY UNSUPPORTED by the Ubuntu
    ## team, and may not be under a free licence. Please satisfy yourself as to
    ## your rights to use the software. Also, please note that software in
    ## universe WILL NOT receive any review or updates from the Ubuntu security
    ## team.
    deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ dapper universe
    deb-src http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ dapper universe
    ## Uncomment the following two lines to add software from the 'backports'
    ## N.B. software from this repository may not have been tested as
    ## extensively as that contained in the main release, although it includes
    ## newer versions of some applications which may provide useful features.
    ## Also, please note that software in backports WILL NOT receive any review
    ## or updates from the Ubuntu security team.
deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ dapper-backports main restricted universe multiverse
    deb-src http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ dapper-backports main restricted universe multiverse
    deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu dapper-security main restricted
    deb-src http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu dapper-security main restricted
    deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu dapper-security universe
    deb-src http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu dapper-security universe

Another forum page suggested the US archives are overloaded and to change "us" to "uk" in the sources list.

    Re: Adept: &quot;waiting for headers (99%)&quot;

I was having this problem as well. I found out that my content filter was
tagging a server at canonical.com as an intruder and blocking all packets
from it. I exempted that domain, and now adept works again.

    Hope this helps.
