$ sign in smb:// URLs don't seem to work - Konqueror

Does anyone know how to get Konqueror to recognise a '$' sign in a saved smb:// URL?

Saved as a link in the remote:/ folder, I've checked the URL file (~/.kde/share/apps/remoteview/..) and it has the '$' sign, however when it's loaded it doesn't parse it - causing a 404.

I can manually edit the URL and it works, though

I've tried escaping it with '\' - it sees the '\' but not the '$'.
    Any other ideas?

    TIA

    Update:

It does if it's at the end: smb://server/share$
But not if it's in the middle: smb://server/share$/directory
