problem with updates

i have problem with recent update bugs
does anyone know: is it safe to install dapper drake now? i'm not sure whether the installer is going to download this bugged update too (it would be a problem)?
i'm a newbie so sorry for eventually stupid question, but i need help urgently

maybe i'll explain something more to you
yesterday i downloaded updates for my dapper drake and after reboot i wasn't able to run graphic mode (after loading there was only kubuntu logo and nothing else)

i have read that these updates have something in common with nvidia drivers and maybe that's the point, cause i use geforce

what do you think? maybe after reinstalling kubuntu it will work?

If it's not solving it, reinstalling should do the trick, but it's not really the good solution if you've configured your system a bit...
