    Speedtouch 330 - solved!

    My configuration:
    IBM Thinkpad R40
    Speedtouch 330 usb
    isp : Bulldog (UK)

After weeks of research I have found the ultimate answer. Easy, graphical, and works just fine. For me it's number one.

    Program:

    http://lichota.net/~krzysiek/project...ty_do_pobrania

Just extract it and start "neogui"

    Firmware.
    http://www.speedtouch.com/download/d...mware_3012.zip

Don't extract it. Neogui will ask you for location of this file during configuration.

    Some screenshots:
    http://lichota.net/~krzysiek/project...i/#screenshots

Don't worry that screenshots are in Polish. Neogui will detect Your system default language.

Note: This tool is dedicated for Polish provider neostrada. This is not a problem. All You have to do after configuration is editing /etc/ppp/peers/neostrada . On the last line You will find VCI/VPI. In my case (London with Bulldog connection) it is 0.38 instead of 0.35

    Good Luck!

    Kubaknopp,

I would just like to say thanks and let you know this works a treat with UK ISP Karoo (Kingston communications which has slightly different VCI/VPI settings to BT).

Now all we need is a Speedtouch 330 firmware which supports 8mbps like in MS Windows.

I max out at about 4mbps with these drivers.

    Cheers again,

    Mike

      Re: Speedtouch 330 - solved!

Thanks for that, works great with Kubuntu. Cant seem to get it to work with Ubuntu tho as the neogui doesnt run when I click it. I'm a total linux newbie so I dont know why.

a few things to mention tho. You have to run neogui everytime u want to connect? I've created a shortcut to it for just that. It would be nice to be able to see some kind of connection status on the panel like in mandriva, which is the only other distro I've managed to get the speedtouch 330 to work on. And that invloved speaking linux to the console.

All the usual ways to get speedtouch working in ubuntu and kubuntu just dont work for me, I dont know why. But this does it.

Any way to get it more better tho? hmm I mean to get the status to show on the panel and to have it connect on boot?
