    DSL so slow

I'm a newbie. Why is DSL so slow? I've got a dual boot and MS is nowhere near this slow on my HP laptop. Is there a way to get my internet connection up to normal DSL speed?

I have a similar problem. I have Edgy on /dev/hda disk and Windows on /dev/ sda. My connection is via Ethernet to a Netopia ADSL router. Whenever I access the network, there seems to be a 10-15 second (or more) latency. During this time, Firefox, e.g., tells me it is "Looking up kubuntu.org", or whatever the site I'm going to is.

I can find very few places in KDE to configure the network. In any case, I wouldn't know what to configure. I don't think it's a question of timeouts, which is all I can find to configure in KDE.

Windows, on the other hand, is almost immediate in getting the router lights to start flashing.

    Help, please.
