    network unreachable

    greetings
I just installed dapper on my second hard drive. The first hard drive has win xp sp2 and connects to my network fine. I have another xp machine with ics enabled, connected to a dsl modem, connected to a linksys hub to share the connection. The dapper live cd won't connect either. I have 2 nics in my computer, one built in and linksys in a pci slot. Slackware worked with this setup but I needed kubuntu for programming for a class. I read most of the posts on this forum and tried everything mentioned to no avail.

    Any idea?
    thanks

Do you have an IP address?

Just checked again, ifconfig doesn't list an ip for either eth device. I also tried adding a default gateway using route but it always comes back as network unreachable. Also I run dhclient and it never finds a host.

try deactivating and reactivating you NIC in the system settings menu. It will ask you to use dhcp and ocourse you say yes. Another thing is you might just have a NIC that is incompatible with Kubuntu. try installing a second NIC deactivate the other one and see what happens.
