    No connection wireless

First, I am using the 64 bit version of Kubuntu and testing it on a LiveDVD on my laptop. I have a wireless home network which when using Windows XP Pro, it detects it and connects automatically. No setup needed, even in the first place.

Now back to Kubuntu. So I checked Kubuntu network settings. A-ha. The wired ethernet network had a check mark but the wireless had an x. So, I said "enable" the wireless. No go. tried a couple times and same thing. It takes about a second or two and actually a check mark appears only for a brief moment then back to the dreaded X. I even disabled the wired and re-enabled it and it was fine (with nothing connected in the ethernet port).

Any ideas on how to even ENABLE the wireless? I have my wirless turned on on my laptop (there is a wireless button). I am very new to Kubuntu and wondering if I am missing something very obvious.

Read the followups to my post "wireless woes" which is right under yours, there are some clues in there.

    I'm (nearly) there now.

    Cheers,
