internet but apt-get adept = no internet access

Man, I have tried everything I can possibly think of before posting here. Fresh install of Kubuntu, internet access works fine accept when it comes to apt-get or adept. They both time out on trying to connect to the sources, meaning I can't use them to install anything or get updates. I so far have tried the following:
replaced sources.list with an alternate, disabled ip6, made sure the nameservers were listed in resolv setting, check and double checked my router settings (as a matter of fact I am currently DMZ on there).
    I do notice something weird...
When I do sudo apt-get update, the ip address it lists for archive.ubuntu.com is 1.0.0.0 yet when I ping the same, I get 195.248.90.23
So I am thinking this is some how dns resolve problems...but how to correct I am at a total loss on this....
Anyone had this happen before? Please?
Going out of town for a few days so forgive me if I don't immediately reply to any replies. Thanks.

I finally figured this out...after hours of searching the net and asking for help in irc channels, I threw away my efforts at the command prompt and editing /etc/ files and finally saw the light and took the graphical route:

Menu > System Settings > Network Setting > Domain Name System
I deleted the two automatically generated, which happened to be the address of my router and it's wan ip address, and then I added my ISP's primary and secondary DNS, which I found from a help document on their site.
Now Adept and apt-get work like a charm!
