    VITESSE VSC8201RX 10/100/1000Mbps NIC

The onboard NIC on my K8NGM2-FID mainboard is the VITESSE VSC8201RX 10/100/1000Mbps, identified in Windows XP simply as "NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller." Dapper Drake detects the NIC, and allows me to assign a static IP address. It is indicated as active and having an address in systemsettings and reports as having an IP address in ifconfig. However, it doesn't seem to pass traffic.

Considering as a "matter of fact" that IP networking is correctly configured...

I believe that whatever driver Dapper Drake is using for the NIC, it is not correct. It is close enough to detect it, assign the IP, but the NIC won't pass traffic.

I'm looking for information on the successful use of the VITESSE vsc8201RX NIC with kubuntu. Thank you.
Working...
