authorization page not loaded for wireless access point

Neither Firefox nor Konqueror will load the authorization page to enable me to log on to the wireless connection provided by a motel where I am a registered guest.

I am running Kubuntu Dapper on my Acer 3620 and I when I try to connect to the access point, I am assigned an IP address and the signal strength is recognized, but I cannot surf because the page on which I type the user name and password is not loaded by either browser.
I do not have popups blocked.

By the way, my ancient PDA which runs WinCE will access the WIFI connection , load the authorization page in IE and let me type in the user name, password, and voila! I can surf on my PDA.

My Acer 3620 connects and allows me to surf on numerous other hotspots, but this one has a login page which is not loaded and prevents me from surfing.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Maybe you can try to send a different identification as for example ie when you're using konqueror (it's in option) and see how it will react...

    Good luck

Thanks for the suggestion. Although I did not mention that in my post, I did try that option in Konqueror. I changed the browser identity to Internet Explorer - actually I tried several of the available identities and got the same result .... no authorization page loaded.
I used my Acer 3620 at a Panera Bread restaurant, and the Accept/Decline page loaded in Firefox. I chose to Accept to follow their rules, and immediatelyl afterwards I could surf.
The Motel wireless network would not load. I am still wondering what, if anything, I can do if this happens on future business trips when I plan to check email on the motel wireless connection.

        A possible solution??
The motel wireless was a PROXY connection and my Firefox (and Konqueror) were set for 'Direct Connection to the Internet' in Edit > Preferences >Connecton Settings rather than "Auto-detect proxy settings for this network" [or Manual or Automatic...]

        I am using Firefox 1.5.0.4
Apparently I must switch between Direct Connection and Auto-detect Proxy.... depending on which type of wireless network I am trying to connect to .

I cant't test this theory on that wireless service since I am back home now, butI can try other Proxy conections and see what happens.
