    best PCMCIA adapter for kubuntu

I have used ubuntu with a usb adapter and quicky got pissed tring ndiswrapper and went back to windows.

now that I have used kubuntu i feel in love with it and all it needs now is the internet. I'm looking for the best PCMCIA adapter that works out of the box.

    thanks

My brother has an IBM laptop with a Netgear MA521 card.  It worked as soon as Kubuntu was installed...we didn't have to do a thing to configure it.  We just loaded up Wireless Assistant, told it to connect to an available network, and viola!  No special drivers needed.  The only downside is that the card is an 802.11B only.

HERE is a good place to look for card information. Myself, I would personally recommend a card based on one of the following chipsets:
      • Atheors
      • Orinoco
      • PrismII/III

These 3 chipsets just work beautifully with Linux, however there are many more that do also. Anyone else with a card that works out of the box, please post!!!

      Good luck!!!

Thanks for the fast reply I think I'm going to get the Netgear MA521 it can do what I need and 802.11B is fine for playing around on the web.
now all i need to do is get the sound to work (thinkpad 600e) thats going to be fun because i have tried just about all the work aorunds for that.

        thanks
