I have wireless working fine but is there a way to get it to auto log on to my wireless network?

Are you using ndiswrapper to make it work ?
I have an intel ipw2200 and it's working at each boot (at least if my modem is not too hot and kill its own signal )
If not, can you give what you're doing to make it work.

And if you wait a while it's not getting ip by itself ?
Can you try to give this info before and after manipulation please ?
ifconfig -a
If you can also give the content of file /etc/network/interfaces

For me it looks like you have no essid set on boot up, but I've heard some people have troubles like this...
Maybe you can try to add a line about essid in the file /etc/network/interfaces
Under the line auto ra0 dhcp, add the following :
wireless-essid westerclan
Maybe it will work, if not I don't see what to do...
