    Problems after todays update

Today I did an update which included a kernel update to 2.6.15-25-386. After the update I started getting problems with uploading files. After a reboot I still had the same problems. Uploading files to a server on the lan over ftp or ssh stalls almost right away. After that my whole network connection seems to be broken. 'ifdown eth0' and 'ifup eth0' got my internet working again, but once I try uploading a big file again I get the same problem right away. I also tried uploading files to a server over the internet which gave the same problem, only it took a lot longer before the connection actually stalled.

Any idea what this could be and how to solve it?

    Hi,

What is your network card ? Is it a marvell or a tulip ?
I've seen that people with tulip one can get it solved (make a search in the forum)
I have a marvell, and I still didn't find solution for it...

If you find it, please tell me.

    Cheers

look to see if linux-restricted-modules-2.6.15-25-386 is installed, it may contain drivers for your hardware:

Currently the following modules are included:
      - madwifi (Atheros)
      - fglrx (ATI)
      - nvidia
      - fcdsl, fcdsl2, fcdslsl, fcdslslusb, fcdslusb, fcdslusb2, fcdslusba,
fcpci, fcpcmcia, fcpcmcia_cs, fcusb, fxusb (AVM ISDN)

These modules are "restricted" because they are not available under a
      completely Free licence.

For me it's not working, it's a marvell card and drivers are in the kernel usually added by ubuntu team... I will try to find a fix somewhere.

          lspci says:

0000:01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8036 Fast Ethernet Controller (rev 10)

So yes, it's a Marvell. As far as I know it's pretty standard Centrino stuff. The linux-restricted-modules were already installed by default so that isn't it. I'm gonna try to boot with the old 2.6.15-23 kernel to see if that makes a difference.

If anybody finds a fix, please let me know.

For me the old kernel was behaving exactly the same way... When I was on breezy with kernel 2.6.12 it was working great...

Hope we will find a fix for this.

            Cheers

              Hurray, I've found it

I've downloaded new 2.6.17 kernel from source then applied as patch the driver from marvell (downloaded on their source), finally compiled it... And it's working great, even faster because it's optimized for my P4M

If you need a full proc, don't hesitate, I will try to give it to you, or if you have a P4 proc, I can give you the package I've created.

              Cheers
