Hmmm

Not sure what the original post might've been like if it was actually there, but I can confirm that RT2500 works like a charm here with the included native driver.

I'd like to switch to ndiswrapper though, since it seems to give me more speed - does anyone know how to prevent kubuntu from loading the rt2500 module, so I can put ndiswrapper in /etc/modules and smile happily ever after?

You have to blacklist it in /etc/hotplug/blacklist.d

In this thread you find info howto blacklist something, its for another wireless driver but it works the same. http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=130963

i'm sure the thread is dead.... however, i wonder if this will work to keep dapper from loading the default rt61 driver for my wlan card so i can use the 'official' driver directly from RaLink.....
