ndiswrapper Installation

I am still working on getting my Realtek 8180 wireless LAN card to connect to internet.

I have downloaded "ndiswrapper 1.48.tar" [presently it's on a flash drive] my question is how and where do I install it

Don't do it. Use the one in the repository. Use Adept to install it. It works.

If you right click on the tarball and extract it you should see a "read me" file that should tell you how to install it.

What is wrong with the Ndiswrapper in the repos?

I guess it was the fact that you said you "downloaded" that confused us. If your computer has a wired adapter, move it to a wired connection and plug it in. Stayed wired until your wireless is working. I picked up a cheap 50' cable for just this purpose. My wireless router has 4 ethernet ports.

Thanks for response, my setup is a T-21 Thinkpad with a dual boot of Win98SE and various Linux distros.

I can use Win98SE to download drivers from card sites, but notebooks internal modem will not work with Linux.

I use a wireless LAN card in the PCMCIA slot at the local library hot spot.
