Hello All. I run a medium size network with 25 or so Suse desktops, and a dozen or so Windows desktops. All the PC's connect to a Linux server (SME) running Samba for Windows networking. The suse desktops have a exceedingly ugly lame bash script that runs each time they login to connect them to the server shares and provide access to the shares via folders within their home directories.
I'm almost finished testing a Kubuntu desktop machine, which will be used to clone replacements to replace their Suse desktops.
My question is:
How can I utilize Konquorer, or SMB4K, or another (unknown app) to elegantly "re-map" drives (folders) each time the Kubuntu user logs in. I can use my lame script again, but there must be a better way. Having them manually have to re input their username and password each time in Konquorer "remote places" is not an option for a business user.
Ultimately, the users need folders on their desktops or home directories that are aliases to the server shares (like I have with Suse today, only with an ugly hack!).
Thanks to all who respond.
