    Installation problem Asus a7d

    Good evening,

I have a Asus a7d Laptop with W-xp installed and Suse 10.1. I want to get rid of suse 10.1 and want to install Kubuntu 6.06 or Kubuntu 6.10.

    So far so good !

When i put the cd into the drive everything is going as planned. I Get a nice Kubuntu screen and you can see it is making itself ready for the login screen ( or in this case the desktop screen from the live-cd).

BUT that's the moment where it goes wrong. When Kubuntu is ready for showing it's desktop screen the screen goes on Black but i can here the intro theme so Kubuntu at that time is up and running but i don't have any visual >

With Suse i didn't have these problems but when i try to run Knoppix latest version same problem.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem

a couple of things to try ...

at boot hit the ESC key and pick recovery mode

    at the prompt write
    sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
    enter your password

this will reset the X server to its defaults
restart and see if you are up and running

if this fails follow the above but write at the prompt
    sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
    enter your password
and follow the on screen instructions ...
